BUONA SERA

Things have been slow on the music front due to a laptop harddrive on it's last leg's...such a shame I recently fixed my AT M50's (headphones people, headphones!)

That said, Dee El will be releasing a new EP in 2013 - no vocals this time, slightly different feel to it as well but keen to produce a second release influenced by living and breathing the London life. As you can imagine there's loads of bass, kick drums and synths but I have been recently playing around with a cheap Dr Sample SP202 that I picked up for £30. The thing is awful in a really great way...

Does anyone have one of these? OP-1 Synth
Really fancy getting my hands on one!

Kev and I (aka ManReads) have taken a break from MR until the new year. We will be writing a new EP as we've pretty much played the album for the past 5 years. I have all these great ideas running through my head for MR but never enough time, as always they won't stop us and hopefully we'll have some new material sorted. I just want to be MyDisco and Kev just wants a peaceful life in the house...i'm sure there's a middle ground in their somewhere?!

I'm very much looking forward to reading all the mundane Top 10 lists. Whilst studying for exams, I stumbled across a now famous interview with Four Tet and The Guardian's main music correspondant. It's an honest, 10 minute rant from KH regarding year end lists and how muso's have this weird fascination with Top 10 lists even the content's of which are 90% bullshit. Anyways, Frank Ocean will feature in almost every top 10 no doubt which is a real shame...enough said.

Right, i'm off to Thailand for 3 weeks to turn 30...laaaaterzzzz fuckers!

FLUKEY BEAT

Pulled this together from an old beat floating around, although originally meant to be played at 126bpm and slowed down to fit around an accapella I found floating around the web - never actually hard of Philly Moves until I came across the Accapella but hey ho...

DANREADS

Hello All - somewhat of a return to the bloggersphere for me. Over the past year I have been concentrating on my supposed punk band ManReads

We spent a year or so recording our debut album "Knowing A Lot About Not A Lot" with Richard Tamblyn of Blacksmiths fame. I had my wonderful girlfriend produce some artwork and we released it summer this year, all of which can be heard HERE

Inbetween playing with some notably great bands over the past couple of months, I have began working with a friend on a new project. It is a fairly big away from Dee El but we are planning to release something in the form of an EP later this year. Certain nods towards house fiends such as Blawan, Joy Orbison and French Fries.

Dee El is still alive though, I will be producing this years 2012 Mixtape over the coming weeks. This year hasn't been the best for releases in comparison to 2011 but there has been some remarkable albums floating around.

This has been a real highlight for me this year, taken from his new album Beams.

IMASCHINE

Lidell is simply brilliant - no doubt in my mind he created the thing in one take. I bought the App shortly after and haven't stopped using it all week...DAMN, if I had the money I would be all over the full scale Maschine!
