REMAIN SEDATED

Really digging this guy at the moment;

He's a young man from Kingston I think - few releases on Young Turks and a really tight remix of The XX's Basic Space. I really like his experimental take on the whole dubstepy-soul thing going on right now, he keeps things sounding fresh. Gonna keep an eye on him I think...

HAPPENIN'S - WOOOOOAH!

Ok, well, I shouldn't really be doing this during work hours but bugger it. I'm feeling hung over and therefore unmotivated towards work. Writing about music on the other hand seems like a sensible alternative to a mundane Friday afternoon.

Studio session's have been in full flow recently. I have actually pulled my thumb out of my ass...I mean ears and put together a hip-hop EP. It's a collaboration with a young man by the name Super Duke Wellington. He's provided me with some fantastic vocals and we have managed to put together a 5 track EP which can be found right here....metropolis3001

I feel very excited and positive towards the EP, it's felt like a long time coming in all honesty and I have recruited the help of Mr Kevin Borratt of Manreads fame and 'touch-wood' Mr Andrew Telling from Lucasse to add some spit and shine. Once completed, the EP will be available to stream on soundcloud and possibly purchase once I have figured out the business side of releasing an EP online!

Manread's are also working on a new EP - Following on from Side A we have decided to name our second release.....Side B.

"How Original!" I hear you cry. It's a straight up 3 songs, played by us over the course of 6 hours. Mixed and Mastered by your's truely! The reality is, the process was great fun and we have an end result to enjoy. Great! That's what being in a band's all about right?!

Oh and apparently, this chap has something new boiling over the stewing pot

Kinetics - The new Lucasse EP, dropping sometime this year I think/hope/would like to see. It's sounding great, it's a much tighter release to the LP. A touch more Ambient, the drums are tight this time too (Note: BuddyPeaceMPCskilz TM)

As always, if you listen closely, you can hear my finely sampled snare drum and ride cymbal. Clearly a signature move of every Lucasse track, pffffft!

Speak soon people...

SOUTHSEA SEE!

This is a huge dinosaur made of Wood and Fibre Glass overlooking the Solent, currently on Southsea Common. It's part of an art installation in association with the Aspex Gallary of Gunwharf Quay fame

Why the fuck not aye!

THE RETURN

Big thing's have been happening recently. I've moved yet again, the studio's in pieces again but hey, I have still have idea flowing! The next Manreads EP is currently being worked on. It was recorded by Andrew Telling from Lucasse but we have taken it upon ourselves to mix and master it again. We have far more flexibility over the mix this time round as we used more channels and better mics.

I've been on old school hip-hop tip recently. I've always been a huge of 90's era beats and rhymes, it's music that has always felt uncontrived when found in the right places. We all know how vast the genre, so the links below are to specific joints chosen by myself. Songs I will always come back too and love:

Thank you Lidell, THANK YOU!

So happy when I heard this! Lidell is one of the most underrated artist's this country has produced in years. The fact he can write a classic Motown record (JIM), chopped up Soul record (Multiply) and a Techno record (Muddlin Gear) in the space of 10 years astounds me.

Cannot wait for the new record!!! WOOHOO!

HISTORY IN THE MAKING

I went to the FA Cup Semi-Final last week - this was my favourite image from a bunch I took overlooking Wembley stadium. Incredible day, Football really brings people together as much as it does create a huge amount of problems. We beat Spurs 2 - 0, What a result!

DRUMS

This is my new drum kit...long story but I've ended up with a Premier Cabria APX. Maple shelled drum kit which sounds lush. I sold my old Yamaha's to a soul sucking prick of a man who turned round and told me he was stripping and throwing the thing away...

WOOAAHHH

First blog entry of the new year!!

Times have changed big time - New job role means No free time. No music making. No blogging. No point living.

The first Manreads EP is near completion. The mixes are being finalised on Wednesday with a nice release on it's way.

Lucasse is going to re-surface this year in varying states. We are attempting to record a live edits piece in a couple of weeks within a 6 hour session. I cannot wait for this - I intend on producing some kind of mix of mine which I will release under my LIGHTS alias and post here for people to download.

As for the LIGHTS project - there are still a number of tracks to be fininshed by myself. The mixes themselves aren't to shoddy, once complete I will keep posting the finished work on Myspace and on here for people to download! Seems things are a little saturated in the music world these days...
